Stranded Loose Tube Armored Cable
The GYTA53 Stranded Loose Tube Armored Cable comes in a structure that has a 250μm optical fiber that's placed inside a loose tube. It is made of high-modulus material and is filled with waterproof compounds to keep the moisture away. The cable core includes a metal strengthening element, and for optical cables with certain core counts, an additional layer of polyethylene (PE) is extruded around this metal strengthening core for enhanced protection.
The loose tubes and filling materials are helically wrapped around the central strength member, forming a compact, round cable core. And the gaps within the core are filled with water-blocking materials. Then the cable is longitudinally wrapped using aluminum-plastic coated aluminum tape (APL), and over this, the polyethylene inner sheath is extruded. The structure is further reinforced by longitudinally wrapping it with a double-sided coated steel tape (PSP). To complete the cable construction, the polyethylene outer sheath is extruded.
Application: This makes the cable preferable for installation in ducts, aerial spans, and direct burial applications.
- Insulation Material: Mineral insulation for high temperature resistance and long-term durability.
- Sheath Material: Metal-sheathed for added mechanical protection and excellent resistance to environmental damage.
- Flexibility: Offers flexibility, making it suitable for installations in tight spaces and areas requiring frequent bending.
- Fire Resistance: Specifically designed to maintain operation even in extreme fire conditions, providing critical protection to life-saving circuits.
- Voltage Rating: Typically used for low and medium voltage applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
It is a type of fiber optic cable that offers protection against environmental and mechanical damage. It is made to be used outdoors to withstand environmental conditions.
Armoured Cables are directly buried and laid underground to protect against environmental factors. But unarmoured cables are not suitable for burial or use in other demanding applications and installations.
They are best for outdoor environments that need durability and protection, avoiding physical or environmental damage. They can be buried directly in soil or trenches, best for aerial installations on poles, and ducted pathways in urban infrastructure.
The loose tube material is created in a way to withstand chemical breakdowns that are caused by exposure to water or moisture. So the cable remains reliable over a long time, in wet or humid environments.
They are primarily made for outdoor use, but can be used indoors where extra mechanical protection is necessary.
